Healthcare Revisited

Just when we thought the health care debate was over came the new republican majority in the House to vote against it. Refresh my memory but wasn't this the same group who criticized the Democrats for passing the Healthcare bill instead of concentrating on job creation? Now the new Repubs are.....voting against Healthcare instead of job creation!

The Repubs know that this bit of political posturing is nothing but a gesture that will go nowhere. The Senate is not going to consider the bill and the President will veto it if and only if it would even get that far. In so many words....this is a waste of time.

There are many Americans already benefiting with the new Affordable Care Bill and many more will in the upcoming years. By 2014 its repeal would be an outrage....similar to repealing Medicare or even Social Security. My prediction is that many Republicans who have voted against it will be haunted for years to come by their vote to repeal.

By the way, I love the polls that group two very different groups of voters together against the Healthcare bill. Unfortunately the pollsters combine those who have negative feelings, one part who are opposed totally with those who are opposed because the bill didn't go far enough. This has been used by the right-wing press and many Republicans to say that a large number of Americans are against it....when in fact it's totally NOT true.

I only hope that the public realizes that these are the same Congressmen and women who enjoy great health care coverage paid in part by taxpayers but have decided to deny you the same courtesy.
